To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.
This a quote from the play, An Ideal Husband, by Oscar Wilde. These were the words that drew me to his writing. I especially adore his plays, which draw us into the world of grand society and glittering conversation.
Wilde’s writing is a consequence of his biting wit and forceful persona, but it betrays deep loneliness and isolation, summed up well in his epitaph.
And alien tears will fill for him
Pity’s long broken urn,
For his mourners will be outcast men,
And outcasts always mourn.
Thank you, Nezel Yurong, for challenging me and giving me the opportunity to share my favorite words. Please visit her wonderful blog @ Purposive Writer. I’m sure you will appreciate her thoughtful writings.
